Building Your Website Business – Discovering The Expert In You
Probably the biggest objection I get from people when we talk about creating an information product is that they are not an “expert” in anything. The good news is that you don’t have to be an expert. The better news is that you probably already are an expert in something. We just have to uncover it.
A writer must be able to start with the end in mind. I know you’ve heard that phrase before (probably too often). But with a writer it’s definitely true. Writing a book needs you to be able to see the end product. To see what your book will be when you finish.
Your grant probably has a deadline and others will surely be applying for the same grant as you. Ask your grant writer what kind of time they will need to complete the grant. If they seem like a great writer, but need an inordinate amount of time, ask if they can get it done sooner or find another writer. There are plenty of great grant writers out there, so don’t feel pressured to settle for a grant writer than won’t meet your needs.
During the final editing stage, one of the editors of the textbook we collaborated on last year contacted me to work on another book. In response to my hurried missive that I was on a deadline, he wrote back letting me know he would be happy to help with the process. I was five days away from my deadline and did not think he meant he would drop everything to help with a moment’s notice so I missed out on a potentially great resource. While catching up with a friend shortly after the editing stage, she shared with me that she has a group of friends who enjoy looking at new works and providing feedback. It is now clear that unplugging separated me from help that would have been beneficial.
Have you always loved to write? Do you find yourself creating story lines all the time? Perhaps you enjoy writing factual material more than fiction? Whatever it is you like to write, now is the time for you to be the writer you were meant to be.
If there were 10 expert s in a niche I was looking at, and the top 3 were completely out of my budget, I’d pick the 4th expert that fit into my price range. Honestly, that’s how it works! Of course there has to be a part where the expert you’re looking at fits into what you’re trying to accomplish, but you’ll go with the law essay writing service that meets your needs AND fits into your budget.
The internet can also be worth looking into to find an expert witness. Searching the web can be a little tricky. There are often many listings available for expert witnesses. The problem is some of the listings may be for self-proclaimed experts and they may not be credible. Still, the internet can be a great resource. It is just necessary to do a little more research when searching the internet as it can be easy for anyone to be listed as an expert. No matter where one is found, it will be important to check credentials and background information.
There are good blogs and so-so blogs. To truly claim to be a writer, the blog can’t be riddled with grammar errors. A few spelling and punctuation errors are forgivable, especially as most blog writers can’t afford a separate set of eyes to edit their work.
Retrieve your first draft and make whatever necessary changes you have come up with. Now you have the final draft (manuscript) which can be taken for editing. The proofreading is simply carrying out a spelling and grammar check, which you can do on your own, but the editing needs to be done professionally if you want the book to succeed in publishing. Find an agency that does this kind of work or an individual editor with a good track record.
The preface is a discussion about how the book came about. It is a place for the book’s author to tell the reader how this book came into being, and why. It will build credibility for the author and the book. More credibility will translate into more book sales. Here the author should explain why they wrote the book, and how they came to writing it. The author should be showing the reader why they are worth reading and buying.
